About Me

Mr. Matt Colburn is an instructional designer at Howard Community College.  A graduate of Brown University (M.A., English) and Kenyon College (B.A., English), Matt Colburn has taught as an adjunct professor of English since 2014. Matt Colburn has received numerous awards for his teaching, including a 2018-2019 Montgomery College Outstanding Part-time Faculty Award, the 2018 University of the District of Columbia Community College Outstanding Adjunct Faculty of the Year Award, and a 2019 League for Innovation in the Community College John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award.  He was a recipient of a 2019 Montgomery College Scholarship for Excellence in Teaching Fellowship.  Professor Colburn posts educational videos, including his popular Two Minute Lectures, on his YouTube Channel, http://youtube.com/ColburnClassroom.  As an intern at NPR, he produced a story on the teaching profession:  http://www.npr.org/2011/05/15/136328597/this-year-appreciation-week-no-cheer-for-teachers
